Love the article but this last sentence seems to be categorically false given the quarterly profit driven short-term mindset that permeates capitalism. Serving stakeholders is largely unconsidered unless required to by a governing entity, and even then it’s usually fought tooth and nail by corporations as “stifling” and framed as “killing jobs” when corporate profits have almost no correlation to job creation statistically.

Businesses seek profit for a minority of shareholders and that will ALWAYS be at the expense of consumers until they can literally not extract profits from consumers because they simply do not have any money. I believe only then will we see some movement on UBI.
